University Projects
A collection of personal and group projects, made whilst on the BA Filmmaking course at the University of Plymouth
Film Module 614 - December 2025
For this module, we specialised in a craft and dedicated our time to enhancing our practical work. I chose to specialise in cinematography. This essay film was our final submission, showcasing our engagement in lectures, and the external learning we completed to enhance both our theoretical and practical knowledge of our specialism. I made sure to complete projects outside of lectures, to push myself out of my comfort zone and further my learning. This inlcuded working as the cinematographer on my peers' work, and producing, filming and editing my own projects with external clients.
Lockpoint - December 2025
I worked on my peer Thomas William's dissertation film, as the cinematographer. This shoot used mainly red and blue lighting, so I had to ensure I lit the scenes well to avoid the colous clipping on the camera. To do this, I added a neutral coloured light so the camera could properly read the colours.

Product Placement - December 2025
I was the cinematographer on my peer Mirona Lescinschi's dissertation film, a satirical take on product placement. This was interesting to film, as it all took place on a sofa. I worked with the director to devise unique different shots to convey helped tell the story. This was filmed in the daytime, but I made sure to also plan for any lighting changes during our takes using artificial lighting.
Recreating a scene from The Man Who Wasn't There - November 2025
This recreation task was also part of our Film 612 Module, using the film 'The Man Who Wasn't There'. Our crew chose this scene to remake, with the following requirements set by our lecturer to include: camera movement on three shots, a silhouette and a shadow shot, and one lit with a single soft light source. This task took place after a lecture on cinematic lighting, so we were putting our learning into practise. I was the 1st and 2nd Assistant Camera on this project, clapper loading, changing lenses and batteries, and assisting the camera operator where necessary.
Recreating a scene from Dr Strangelove - October 2025
Our crew was tasked with recreating the 'Water and Commies' scene from Dr Strangelove as accurately as possible in the Film 612 Module. Our only parameter was to use at least 5 different shots, instead of the original one shot. I worked as the cinematographer on the crew. To prepare, we all completed a test shoot without the actors, allowing us to practice the best lighting and test out different shot types. I also researched the correct settings to shoot in for a black and white colour grade, and made a shot list. The final film received praise from our lecturer Mark Carey.
Luna's Fund - The Story of Arlo and Hattie - March 2025
For our documentary module at the University, we had the honor of working with the incredible charity Luna's Fund. This film introduces their team, and tells Jasmine's story of baby loss, in the hopes that other families struggling through this experience will feel brave enough to reach out for help. For this project I was the cinematographer: making risk assessments and shot lists, ensuring the shoot was as professional and organised as possible. Our crew received wonderful feedback from the Luna's Fund team, and have gone on to create more work for them, outside of University.

The Soundless Mind - April 2025

This film was made for the 'Imperfect Cinema' University Module. Our brief was to make a film we were passionate about, whilst letting go of perfectionism. For my project I decided to make a 3D stop motion set, with one room the film took place in. Every aspect of this project I completed by myself, from pre-production to post. I loved how freeing the brief was and enjoyed being creative without boundaries. I learnt lots of skills along the way, especially in set design and stop motion animation. It has since been selected and screened at the Nahemi 'Eat Our Shorts' Student Film Festival.
An Insight into Wembury Beach - November 2024
This was my first film made in the documentary genre, which I produced, directed, filmed and edited. I wanted to make this film to showcase the diverse marine life Wembury Beach has to offer, and to share my love for it with audiences. I faced unexpected weather conditions during this film, and learnt how to quickly adapt in these situations. In the making of this project, I found a real intereset in documentaries, and telling real stories. When I look back on this film I do see ways it could be improved, but I have since gone on to make more documentaries which showcase my improvement since then.
The Naming of Krekopia - November 2024
I was the cinematographer for this Mockumentary by Imogen Swale. We worked closely to achieve her vision. I chose to film handheld on the main scene, emphasising the chaos happening between the Gods. Taking inspiration from 'The Office', Imogen wrote comedic talking head inserts to help convey the characters personalities and dynamics.
This project was an exploration into mixed media animation, which I had never tried before. I wrote, produced, directed, filmed and edited this project. It was a really interesting process for me - printing out the frames, drawing on them, scanning them and making them into video again. It pushed my skills in a different direction, and I discovered how much I loved combining digital and physical techniques. It created such a unique effect and think it played a big part in helping to tell my story.
Reverie - October 2024
Aliens Abroad - May 2024
For a University module with an open brief, myself, Hudson Mckee and Imogen Swale chose to make an epsiode from a hypothetical kids TV show, using stop motion animation. We wrote the script, designed and created the sets and characters. I was producer on this film, creating call sheets and schedules to ensure we completed the finished film before the deadline.
Dala - December 2023
This was the first film I'd ever made, and the first module in my first year of Filmmaking at the University of Plymouth. I wrote, produced, directed, filmed and edited this project. I worked hard on pre-production, ensuring I was sufficiently prepared for the shoot days. This project helped grow my confidence in communicating my ideas across to a crew. I look back on this film fondly as the beginning of my filmmaking portfolio.
